My Story
I was born and raised in Austin, Texas, and am a product of that city’s public schools. I received my undergraduate degree from Brandeis University in Sociology, and my Master’s in Public Policy Administration from the National University of Singapore.
I spent more than twenty years as a journalist for various news outlets, including KQED, The New York Times, and Reuters. As a school board member, I channel my journalist’s curiosity and seek input from the community to inform initiatives and decisions. I’ve also worked as a communications director for a Menlo Park-based California State Assemblyman and for a Palo Alto-based Congressional campaign.
In 2017, our family moved to Menlo Park, and our two children started attending Menlo Park City schools. I immediately got involved, serving on the site councils at Hillview and Encinal, as an ambassador for the Menlo Park Atherton Education Foundation, and as a classroom volunteer.
I was first elected to the Menlo Park City School District Board in 2020 as the pandemic was receding. It has been an incredible privilege to participate in civic life at this level – it is deeply satisfying work. At a time when our public institutions are under attack, I am grateful to have a role in reinforcing our public education system. In this corner of the universe, as part of this school board, I effectively use my position to fight for our community and our children, and will continue to do so.
I work so that every child in MPCSD receives the education that will make their dreams possible.
